A heart full of horsepower
Raul's journey commenced with the gift of toy cars from his grandfather, an innocuous spark that would kindle an insatiable curiosity. Through disassembling these miniature vehicles in secret, his young mind started unraveling the complex mechanisms hidden within, it being the initial whisper of a lifelong pursuit that was about to unfold.
As his curiosity for unraveling the inner workings of objects intensified, it took a notable turn when he started cycling and encountered the necessity of mending his own bicycle. However, financial constraints within his family compelled him to adopt resourceful approaches to rectify his bike's issues. Even if it meant dedicating a substantial hour and a half of labor to acquire a mere euro for purchasing a brake cable. This can be considered to be the starting point, that would eventually lead him into the realisation of his dream.
The world of cars had always fascinated him; he was drawn to comprehending their internal mechanisms. Nonetheless, there was a missing puzzle piece - the fundamental knowledge and formal education to underpin his passion. Through a series of Discovery Channel, he stumbled upon courses that revolved around modifying and tinkering with cars. While his friends were watching other shows like Dragon Ball, his focus remained steadfastly on automobiles. His father's engagement in an automotive garage, where he worked on an aging Mercedes that had attained classic status, also left an indelible imprint on him. Back then, it seemed like an unattainable aspiration, as he was just a child, still he understood that patience was necessary, and that he needed to mature before seizing the chance to learn and excel.
Eventually, he entered the world that had captivated him for so long, looking at it as "a blessing" that he truly cherishes – being able to step into this world and become who he is today.
Cars and Programming Drive the Future
Raul's passion for programming unfolded a bit later on. Beginning with his engagement in the domain of automotive exhaust systems, particularly his endeavors in fabricating exhausts. One day, a client arrived and requested an exhaust job. Upon completion of the exhaust work, Raul noticed warning lights illuminated on the car's dashboard, fearing something might have gone wrong. However, his apprehension quickly disappeared as the client reassured him, saying, "Don't worry, Raul. I'm going to take the car to an individual who possesses computer expertise, and he'll rectify the issue."
In the subsequent days, the client revisited the garage to demonstrate Raul the resolution. To his amazement, he had employed a computer to effect the necessary adjustments. This encounter evoked his interest on how programming solved the issue, thus falling in love with another side of the automobile world, as he delved into research and became an expert on the matter.
Where Engines Rest and Dreams Rev Up
Nearly seven years ago, Raul took the initiative to establish his very own garage, located within the premises of his grandparents' garage. Amidst this setup, a tool cart and a welding machine were readily available. Drawing from his prior experiences in metalwork and welding, he had accrued a diverse skill set from his time in a mechanic's garage.
With a firm grasp of the mechanics involved, he embarked on creating a space for himself, documenting his services online. This initial step set off a chain reaction - attracting customers and gradually expanding his array of services. His path extended further, guided by relentless resolve that significantly contributed to propelling him to his current position. It's vital to emphasize that his current accomplishments stand as proof of his steadfast persistence.
A Fusion of Wheels and Artistry
When inquiring about the inspiration behind the wall art, Raul shares, "From within myself, I grapple with autism and a profound attention deficit disorder, both interwoven with an exceptionally fertile imagination. The concept of this garage has occupied my thoughts for around four to five years, or perhaps a bit longer. A persistent longing within me has always driven the desire to organize things into tidy compartments, much like the meticulous arrangement you see here. I did make an attempt to bring this vision to life in a previous workshop, unfortunately, the financial means to fully realize this endeavor were beyond my grasp at that time."
“The origins of this garage emerge from the depths of my memories, specifically rooted in my childhood. Those early years were profoundly shaped by my enthusiastic consumption of Discovery Channel content, often captivated by the American garages who consisted of detailed elements, much like what you can observe in this space. However, this garage stands as a distinctive creation - it’s a realization of my dreams. Indeed, if you search for comparable garages, you will only find the West Coast Custom as its closest resemblance. Nonetheless, their setup tends to lean more towards industrial efficiency rather than the familial warmth I've nurtured here. The inviting atmosphere you feel has always been my aspiration - to be able enter my garage and be able to feel a sense of home.” Raul, explains.
Waves of critique
When it comes to success, and dealing with criticism on social media, Raul tells us, that he simply chooses not to engage with it, as engaging with criticisms often leads to unintentional adaptation, as negative opinions influence our psyche. When individuals take it upon themselves to voice criticisms, which could range from physical attributes to false accusations, a natural human response is to feel a certain level of disheartenment. After all, we are human, and adverse comments do affect us. Sometimes, they even ignite feelings of anger and the urge to retort. Yet, he discerned that delving into such comments, especially in groups on social media, did him more harm than good. Therefore, he resolved to shield himself from this negativity and continue his course, consistently steering toward positivity, honor, and dignity.
The path he has chosen is one of authenticity and integrity. Not everyone will resonate with it, and that's perfectly alright. Those who resonate with it, appreciate it, while those who don't, elicit our empathy. After all, he hasn't spent three decades attempting to please everyone. At 30 years of age, he is unapologetically himself. He stands as a transparent, forthright figure, often described as candid and unequivocal. This candidness comes at a cost, as he consciously avoids reading the comments about him on social media, for it only hampers his journey forward.
Habemos Papa Amore
Raul is a person brimming with joy, perpetually wearing a smile that's not only evident in his physical presence but also in his social media videos. Upon closer examination of these videos, it becomes apparent how frequently he utters the phrase 'Habemos Papa Amore,' a catchphrase that his fans have even turned into a hashtag.
The story behind the phrase might sound incredibly straightforward, almost unbelievably so. Raul and his colleagues were engrossed in configuring the electronics for an Audi TT, a task that had taken three consecutive days. Their aim was to capture those iconic shots, the scenes where individuals test the clutch's limits by revving the engine to its peak. This process involved trial and error – experimenting with different approaches, refining techniques, and exploring various angles. The moment when they successfully captured the shots they were striving for, marked a deeply satisfying culmination of their efforts.
Raul states, "Have you ever wondered about waiting for something significant, like the election of the Pope? When will white smoke emerge? This led me to create this analogy that fit the situation. I turned to my colleague and said, "Habemos Papa", being a spontaneous phrase that captured the essence of accomplishment."
Dá-lhe Zé
"Dá-lhe Zé" in english, "Give him Zé", surged when Raul was filming the process, and repeatedly encouraged, Zé, who was hesitant, to accelerate more. The repetition of the phrase, that unfolded naturally, soon became more than just words, becoming a hashtag, on social media.
The videos they created garnered immense attention, reaching millions of views. The impact was significant, with a reach of 9.9 million on Facebook.
Journeying Back Through Time
When questioned about the advice he'd offer his 19-year-old self, Raul reflects on his path and underscores the value of wisdom. He highlights the importance of valuing his own self-worth and dignity, acknowledging that during that phase of his life, these traits weren't as apparent as they are now. With time comes growth, a quality that deepens as years pass.It's crucial to find contentment in past errors and embracing the change that accompanies the passage of time and the kindness of greater powers. In essence, to evolve into a better version of oneself.
At the age of 19, he didn't fully embody the goodness he strives for today. There was a hint of inner conflict, a touch of self-centeredness that required attention. So, if he were to communicate with his 19-year-old self, he would impart the importance of having a sense of sensibility.
Looking back, he would share these reflections with his 19-year-old self: to cultivate a keen sense of judgment, to wholeheartedly welcome gratitude, and to recognize and treasure their intrinsic value. These attributes would have served as invaluable guiding principles during those foundational years.
Exhaust leaks
Raul seeks refuge from everyday stress, in the practice of spearfishing beneath the tranquil depths of the water. His preferred routine involves renting a caravan and driving to the northern shores of Galicia. Upon reaching his destination, he dons his diving gear and sets out on fishing ventures.

Future Projects
Raul holds certain aspirations that bear profound significance to him. Specifically, one of these aspirations, not quite categorized as a project but more as a resolute goal, is to achieve the milestone of accumulating a million through his dedicated efforts. His ambition is to realize this accomplishment through unwavering determination and hard work.
Beyond this, another deeply heartfelt objective of his is to engage in a journey alongside his daughter, fostering their bond and nurturing his aspirations of becoming the best father possible.
At the core of his grandest aspiration, his most substantial endeavor, lies the commitment to ensure that those in his close proximity never experience scarcity. He yearns for the well-being of those who accompany him on this path. His sincere desire is for everyone around him to flourish.
His material possessions – the workshop, the house, the cars – they are in place. His desires now encompass emotions: love, affection, loyalty, and respect. These are the elements he aims to enrich his life with. The pursuit of genuinely kind-hearted individuals to share his life with poses a challenge. It's a complex endeavor as individuals embodying goodness often bear the scars of exploitation. They frequently shield themselves, cautious of those who might take advantage of their kindness. This complexity renders the task of surrounding oneself with the right people a demanding one.
Furthermore, he craves the company of individuals who can infuse their positive energy into his life. It's a principle – if one aspires to embody goodness, it's wise to associate with those who radiate it. If negativity aligns with one's preferences, then companionship with those who embody it might be sought. It's a reflective process – the company one keeps mirrors the essence of their identity. This truth holds steady, remaining unfailing in its logic, and he finds it to be exceptionally accurate.
